Instructor

 tree2Joey Anne Penachio, PMA®CPT

Joey has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from University of Rochester, with a minor in Anthropology. Pilates enlightened her life in 2005 after the birth of her third child.  Pilates became a deep passion and has been the backbone to maintaining and supporting a healthy body and soul. Joey completed a 450-hour comprehensive instructor training program through Pilates Chicago, which she considers her home-base and continues to visit for further education and fun Pilate sessions with friends. She became PMA (Pilates Method Alliance) certified in July 2011. Joey’s style of teaching is ever evolving as she continues to learn about Pilates and all its valuable effects on movement through ongoing participation at workshops and conferences.  She has taken many workshops with Master Teachers and incorporates new knowledge to classes and private sessions.  Joey has worked in a Physical Therapy environment for most of her Pilates’s career and will continue in this setting for Vita Sana Pilates, which is housed in Perform Physical Therapy.  She has also completed Level 1 Be Activated technique with Douglas Heel thanks to her employment with Core Fitness and Physical Therapy.  With three growing boys, including one with physical disabilities, Joey is very aware that everyone’s needs are different and change with time.  She offers her clients exercises that they need on that day to strive toward a healthy life – Vita Sana.
